I was born in Vernon, Texas. I like to think of myself as a true Tex-Mex as I grew up between East Texas and Albuquerque, NM. In 2005 while working as a Workforce Management Coordinator for the business process operations company Client Logic located in Albuquerque I was first introduced to Toastmasters. I wanted to improve my leadership and communication skills in order to begin a career in management. I served as sergeant of arms during that 2006 – 2007 term and was working my way through the Competent Communicator manual when I was transferred to Longview, Texas.
The career move was great as it was a supervisor role that put me closer to my three oldest children that lived in Tyler, Texas. The sad part of the transfer was that there were no Toastmasters. I remained in the Tyler/Longview area for three years. In the year of 2011, I took a position at the Terminix contact center in Lewisville, TX as an intra-day analyst. The opportunity presented itself to me in 2012 to take a position as a forecast analyst in Atlanta, Ga. While in Atlanta, GA I was reintroduced to Toastmasters through a co-worker and member of District 44. I began where I left off with much zeal completing my Competent Communicator then Advanced Communicator Bronze and Advanced Leader Bronze. I began speaking and leading with more confidence through much guidance and direction from my mentor DTM David Lawhorn.
I once again advanced up the career ladder and transferred back to Lewisville, Texas where I became a member of District 25 Lakeside Toastmasters where I earned my Advanced Communicator Gold, and served as Area 22 Director. I give to Toastmasters to repay my debt owed to Toastmasters by serving others.
