I have been in Toastmasters now on and off for over 15 years. I started my journey in Taiwan and was also a member in New Zealand and Oregon before moving to Texas. I have also visited clubs all over the world- literally.
As part of the DTM process you have to lead training- I discovered I really enjoy doing this and have since focused my efforts on learning to be an effective trainer and learning as much as I can so I can share that with others. I LOVE both learning and sharing what I have learned- seeing other people grow is amazing to me.
I continue to learn everything I can so I can help others also learn and grow. Not only am I currently working through 2 paths, but I have recently taken both Judge and Chief Judge training (highly recommend both), and I enjoy leading the TLI officer training sessions (a wonderful opportunity to help not only other members but also clubs! And open to anyone to lead so long as you want to, it’s not necessary to be a super experienced TM). Everything that Toastmasters has is a learning opportunity and there is an opportunity to learn so much. It’s been said many times- but Toastmasters is truly one of those places where the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it- it’s up to you.
I am now looking at what it will take to do my second DTM- using the same process I did for the first one- just working on whatever comes next- if you just keep doing the next thing, you’ll go farther than you ever thought you could! I am also working my way through the Mentoring Module- I am really excited about this unique opportunity as there are not many places where you can focus specifically on developing mentoring skills- and talk about useful at work!!
I am excited about where I am now and eager to see what else Toastmasters has for me to learn and grow into, and also what I can share with others. I love the cycle of give and receive that Toastmasters has, it is so unique and incredibly beneficial. I am always looking forward to the next opportunity, and I know there will be tons of reasons to grow in the 2019-2020 year!
I look forward to learning and growing with you.
