by Chris Raneri, DTM District Director
Happy Holidays! This year has certainly been different than in years past. I’m grateful for the positive things that have happened and choose to focus on those instead. I am also grateful for all of the members who have chosen to run their marathon by taking that important first step. The clubs in our district continue to pivot and have adapted new ways to grow their membership and their club members while embracing the new virtual world. Toastmasters International has evolved by allowing virtual club officer training and our district even held a Virtual Summit so our members could still take advantage of valuable education opportunities. I realize for some that the virtual situation may not be ideal, but I am grateful there is an alternative to not meeting at all.
As the holiday season rolls in, we have pivoted to having virtual holiday parties. Recently, we celebrated an afternoon with virtual karaoke and online games. I missed the in-person interaction, but still cherished the tender moments when we took pictures with Santa Chuck.
Yes, 2020 has been a different year. I challenge you to close your eyes for just a moment and think of at least one thing you are grateful for that has happened this year. Remember it when times are tougher and share it with a friend or family member when they need a moment of happiness.
On behalf of the District 25 Trio – Happy Holidays! No matter how you choose to spend them, be safe and cherish each moment. We have six more months of the Toastmasters year to cross the finish line of your marathon together. Let’s find your next great moment and celebrate it!
