At the D25 Summit last Saturday, District members got out of their comfort zones and bridged the gap from where they are to where they want to be!
Michelle Debenport taught us that ogres are only at the start of our bridge and when we move towards the other end, they get smaller and smaller. Jamie Pickering showed us how to profit with 90/90s to get to the future we want. Bindu Chintha encouraged us to use the GIFTS of gratitude, inspiration, family, thanks, and silence. And those were just the keynoters! We also enjoyed 15 presenters in 12 different education sessions on a variety of topics.
Feedback from members include:
-
- “That was the best education session I have been to!”
- “There were so many great choices that I had a hard time deciding which one to attend!”
- “What a great day!”
- “The Summit was fantastic!”
But wait! There was more!
The district leadership panel was a new concept this year. Ten current and past district leaders rotated around the room sharing their experiences with small groups of 3-4 members. These members had the opportunity to ask questions and learn the ways to serve at the district level. Many expressed interest in serving as well as gratitude for the leaders who shared.
The Summit ended with our world famous DTM ceremony. We celebrated 5 members receiving their DTMs: Godfred Ahuma, Suresh Basyal, Martin Alberto Galaviz Lerma, Emily Murray, and Dr. Conda D. Ross. Congratulations to our newest DTMs!
Marian Hicks unveiled “Make Your Mark” as the theme for the annual conference which will be held next May. Make sure you watch the D25 website for details and register early. It will be another inspiring weekend for D25 Toastmasters!
Even though we are now looking at the 2022 Summit in our rear-view mirrors, it is never too late to Draw Your Bridge to create a rewarding future for yourself, your club, and your community!
