Calvin Dorsey took us to school… again. Saturday school! Calvin serves as the D25 Speakers Bureau Chair and organized another great lineup of speakers with something for everybody!
When the World Championship of Public Speaking Semi-Finalist, Fursey Gotuaco, shows on the agenda, you know it will be phenomenal. He opened with an inspirational message and left us with the knowledge that no matter how great AI writing is, it will never have the heart we need as speakers.
Willie Johnson taught us to OPEN UP AND OWN THE ROOM. He is dynamic, funny, and a joy to listen to. His tips for winning speech contests were phenomenal, and those who attended are more prepared for the upcoming contest season.
Many Toastmasters want to put their spoken words on paper, and Kelley Renee does just that. Her four-step “prescription” for writing a book included success principles that can be applied to most goals. She is a published author, has a publishing company, and is a true master in her field.
Jeff Klein focused on teaching us how to get paid! He has mastered a formula to turn free speaking engagements into money-making opportunities. His services have value, and by demonstrating this value, he showed how they can hire him and receive more value… and so can we.
Social media can be a great opportunity for connecting, and Arlene Gale taught us the “do’s and don’ts” of using the internet. While social media is great, you should always have a website. Arlene is a master in her field and shared a great message with interesting content that was well-organized.
Kim Story (yes, that’s me) gave a presentation on the benefits of intelligent scheduling software, specifically Calendly, to organize, streamline processes, and eliminate double bookings. Sync, Customize, Share, Connect!
Closing out the school day was the amazing Dave Papenmeier who shared information about Positive Intelligence, the ten saboteurs, the three U’s, and the four steps to build mental muscle habits. So much greatness packed into a short presentation. Every outcome can be turned into a gift.
Thank you all for TAKING US TO SCHOOL! I know I received so many great resources, handouts, and LinkedIn connections. I can’t wait for our next class!
