Winter TLI Season is upon us! There will be 13 sessions hosted by D25- 7 led by the district and 6 by the Divisions. This winter our general session will focus on becoming an effective team leader.
For President’s, we are again holding our special President’s Breakfast training on January 7- please be sure to register for that special session instead of the general officer training on the same date.
All information will be updated on the D25 Calendar including the Supplementals offered and the registration links. As always- our training is FREE and open to any Toastmaster, not just officers. You can also find the most up to date information on the TLI webpage. You are also welcome to join us in multiple trainings if more than 1 supplemental session interests you. Please see list of supplementals offered below- registration links are found by clicking the date that you choose to attend. More information to come on the Division TLI sessions.
Friday Jan 6, bridge opens at 5pm, training starts promptly at 530pm
- “Club Coach Training” by Alex Conrad, Club Retention Chair.Club coaches are required to have training, and we always need more club coaches. Please come to this training so you can be ready to help others.
- “How to Design, Develop and Deliver Powerful, Polished Presentations” by Safaraz Nazir. Do you yearn to walk on to a platform and quickly “wow” the audience? This education session -conducted by 5-time DTM and someone who has completed all 11 Toastmasters education pathways- will help you build that confidence. It covers proven tools, tips, and techniques designed to add the “Power of Wow” to the content and delivery of your presentation, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced speaker, you’ll find a tip or two to make your presentations more impressive, effective, and memorable.

- “Creating Quality Contests” by Jerod Blackman, District Contest Coordinator. Is your club ready for this year’s contests? If it is new to you some and learn best practices, tips, and techniques for a smooth contest. If you’ve held them before, come and knock the dust off or share your experience to help others succeed.
- “How to Host a Speechcraft” by Kelley Rene Daniels.What’s a Speechcraft? It’s a fantastic opportunity to utilize your public speaking skills and draw non-Toastmasters to your club. Come learn how to host a Speechcraft and bolster your club’s membership.
- “How to Plan, Prepare, and Practice for the International Speech Contest” by Safaraz Nazir. Each year about 25,000 to 30,000 Toastmasters compete at the club level in the international speech contest. Only 28 advance to the semifinals and eight advance to the finals. Do you dream of competing in the World Championship of Public Speaking semifinals or finals? In this session, you’ll learn the art and science of conquering the hearts and minds of your audience and the judges. Join 3-time World Championship of Public Speaking Semifinalist and 2-time First Runner Up to discover what makes a winning speech.
- “Leadership Panel” By Ninfa Flewitt IPDD & District Leadership Committee Head. If you have ever wondered if YOU have what it takes to be a leader in our District, the answer is “YES!!” Do you have to start with the really big roles first? No way! Find out what areas are available and perhaps you’ll find that your skill set can benefit the district while helping you gain leadership experience. This new take on a Leadership Panel is sure to have something for everyone! After a short panel discussion, 10 past and present district leaders will present in a speed dating style session.

- “FreeToastHost Custom Webpage Design for Beginners” by Jai Erwin, Area 34 Director. Does your club know how to create webpages on your FreeToastHost website? Does that itty-bitty teeny tiny screen make it hard for you? Do you think that you cannot create web pages? Well, this session is for you! This session is designed to help non-webpage developers learn simple tricks that will allow them to create new pages for their club’s website. (It is assumed you will have some familiarity with the Admin Console.)
- “1 Weird Trick to Get 30 Members in your Corporate Club” by Dave Papenmeier, Program Support Chair. You will learn how corporate clubs are different, how to co-opt your company, receive resources to take back to your company and what actions to take.
- “Judge’s Training” by Jamie Pickering & Larry Prince, District Chief Judge.District 25 will need over 150 judges for our upcoming contest season. Have you been a member for 6 months? Learn to be a contest judge! Planning on competing? Get a leg up on your competition by understanding what judges are looking for. Please note that this is a 90 minute session.

- “OBS Studio- a Pretty Cool Tool to Add Impact to Virtual Presentations” by Michael Levy. We have a pretty cool tool at our disposal with OBS Studio- a free, fabulous tool that adds value to presentations and works in conjunction with Zoom. Michael will showcase what the OBS Studio application does and how it can be used as your presentation platform and shared via with Zoom.
- “Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea: Truths, Lies, and Strategies for Dealing with Negative Feedback and Criticism” by Amy Shirley. If you’re putting yourself out there in the world, you’re bound to receive negative criticism at some point. Whether it’s in the form of someone who didn’t like your presentation, mean comments on content you created, or well-meaning loved ones who disapprove of your choices, those remarks can feel like a sucker-punch to the gut. In this lighthearted presentation, learn how to keep Negative Nancys and trolls from getting under your skin, silence your inner Karen, and reach for the stars with confidence and grace.

- “Inspiring our Youth through the Youth Leadership Program” by Tammy Kasterke. Ever thought of leading a Youth Leadership Program but not sure how to do it? This session is a panel discussion of experienced YLP leaders ready to share ideas and inspiration for you to lead a YLP in 2023!
- “HYBRID: Bridging the Gap, Breaking Through the Log Jam” by Jason Jett, Division C Director. Have you or someone you love been a victim of a hybrid meeting that could use some improvements? Does the thought of a hybrid meeting, where people are both on zoom and in the room, keep you up at night? Do you want to know how to bridge the gap between your live audience and your virtual audience? Jason is here to help with the remedies you might need for a healthy hybrid meeting.
- “Advanced Zoom Meeting Master” by Alex Conrad. Assuming you know how to log into Zoom, how to chat and turn on and off your camera and microphone…now what? Alex will teach us breakout rooms, annotation, screensharing, sharing files and MORE! Have a question? Come get it answered!

- “New Club Mentor Training” by Donna Fossmeyer, Program Quality Chair. Mentoring a new club takes a particular set of knowledge. Come learn how to effectively set new clubs up for success.

- “What to do in the Aftermath of Disappointment” by Gregory Rutledge. Disappointment is all too familiar in recent years but it’s not a new thing, it is a part of the human experience. - “Recipe for Humor” by: Kim Story, DTM & Michelle Debenport, District PRM. While attending the D25 Spring ’22 Conference, Michelle & Kim realized they had more than just Toastmasters in common. A decade apart, they had both studied stand-up comedy with Dean Lewis. From this realization, a vision was born. A uniting of two different comedic styles and a desire to share these principles of comedy to help their fellow Toastmasters take their speaking to the next level. Are you ready to get out of your comfort zone and into the Comedy Zone? Bridge the gap between average presentations and excellent, entertaining presentations that get more callbacks.
- “Building an Accountability Structure for Success” by Patty Wyatt & Jon Lukacher. We will identify the difference in a mentor and an accountability partner, understand the benefits of an accountability partner and how to choose one. Participants will learn how to find an accountability partner, establish the framework of the relationship, manage expectations and implement accountability measures. We also will do breakouts and debriefing on basic scenarios that an accountability system may work through.
