Joe is President of Thinkscale, a leadership effectiveness consultancy that advises CEOs, senior leaders and Boards of Directors on organizational culture, succession management, and developing effective leadership. He also provides one-on-one leadership coaching for individuals interested in advancing their careers by helping them achieve meaningful changes in behavior, skills, and perspectives essential to their success.
Clients describe Joe as one of the most creative, yet practical problem solver they have worked with because of the way he challenges conventional thinking and produces creative solutions that really get results. They appreciate his ability to think critically about complex issues, quickly see underlying patterns and root-causes, and define strategic priorities clearly.
He attributes his resourcefulness to the environment he grew up in. The son of Cuban refugees, he started a commercial cleaning company at 15 years old to support his family. His curiosity led him to find creative ways of optimizing his workforce to succeed in a highly competitive business.
At 16, he enrolled in college, and completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology from William Paterson University, which he followed closely after with a master’s degree in Organizational Psychology from Columbia University. He later earned an MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
He has been a Chief Human Resource Officer and Chief Talent Officer for several Fortune 500 companies. Throughout his corporate career Joe pursued difficult assignments ranging from helping turn around distressed business units, starting up new ventures, leading HR in a post-IPO biotech, and integrating many acquisitions.
Through Thinkscale, he has helped senior executives transform their leadership and organizations. He has an impressive portfolio of clients ranging from well-known Silicon Valley CEOs to aspiring start-up leaders.
Joe was an operations director for the Animal Rescue Foundation of Texas (ARFtx), which has saved over 4,000 dogs and cats.
He is a Distinguished Toastmaster and a past club president who often talks about career and leadership.
